COUNSELING ROLE OF THE FACULTY ADVISOR |
|
When the learner is officially enrolled in the University, a Faculty Advisor is assigned to the learner if he/she has not already chosen one. If the Faculty Advisor is not a professional in the field of study chosen by the learner, they will mutually agree upon a choice of an Adjunct Faculty member who is a professional in that field of study who will assist the learner in the academic process. Using curriculum guidelines for the degree program the Faculty Advisor (and the Adjunct Faculty member) will assist the learner in the process of developing courses and identifying resources which the learner will utilize in the process of writing course papers. In addition, the Faculty Advisor (and the Adjunct Faculty member) identify references, activities and the standards by which the learners performance will be evaluated. At the end of each course, the learners will submit a summary report which outlines course content, identifies major concepts learned, references authorities, available library resources, appropriate community sources, and practicum experience. A bibliography must be prepared which substantiates the depth and breadth of the learning experience. In addition, the learner must attach a self-evaluation of the knowledge gained. |
