Doctor of Ministry (D.Min)

  • Enhance your skills in ministry

  • Explore new theological insights

  • You can experience the challenge of peer-learning with colleagues in ministry

  • Reflect on your practice

  • Deepen your knowledge and spirituality

Honolulu University can now offer you the opportunity to do all of the above in the company of your peers in ministry and with the guidance and direction of members of Honolulu University Faculty along with other distinguished teachers and professionals in the practice of ministry.

The track requires twenty-four hours of class work, two project seminars for which you will receive four hours credit, and a professional practicum.  It will provide the opportunity for a general approach within which to frame your own interests and practicum.   You can also develop your learning skills in the area of Evangelism and general ecclesiastical experience.

The Doctor of Ministry program is designed to equip people actively involved in a vocational ministry with a refined competence.  It is the highest professional degree for leaders in local church or Para church ministries.  Applicants for this program must demonstrate at least two years of full-time experience in Christian ministry after completing the prerequisite M.Div or Th.M degree.  It will also require a 30-hour course work and a 3 hour applied research project.

DEGREE REQUIREMENTS

The Doctor of Ministry program requires 27 semester hours of course work which may include 24 hours of prescribed and elective courses, plus a 3-hour applied research project related to the student's ministry.  It normally requires at least four years of study.

The Doctor of Ministry program is designed to increase the effectiveness of pastors.  It is built upon the biblical, theological and professional foundation of the Master of Theology degree.  It is flexible enough to meet individual needs while seeking to encourage increased competence in the classical and functional disciplines already studies in pre-professional courses required for ministry.

As with our other programs, you can study at your own pace and time.  The Faculty of Theology must submit your completed dissertation project in good time for successful defense.

The recommended requirement for Bibliology study is our prescribed book "Biblical Annotations - Joe Baily, Ph.D," and is available at the University.  You may extrapolate materials from this study guide for your Degree program.
