COURSE OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this course, you will be able to do:

1) Examine and understand various information technology applications and disciplines within both personal and professional settings.
2) Compare and contrast information technology, information systems, computer science, and engineering.
3) Learn and define the concept of electronic commerce and understand its basic applications.
4) Learn and understand the evolution of computing devices.
5) Learn and know various office technology applications (including automation)
6) Learn and know the importance of technology within communications application.
7) Learn and understand the significance of both the positive and negative impacts of technology.
8) Identify technological trends manifested during the last century.
9) Consider the future evolution and advancement of information technology.

COURSE CONTENT: This course provides an introductory overview of information technology principles. Topics may consist of:

1) Current IT applications in practical settings
2) Electronic commerce and Web site generation
3) Evolution of technology
4) Historical computing
5) Computing trends
6) Office systems
7) Automation
8) Communications
9) The benefits versus disadvantages of technology

COURSE ACTIVITIES: In order to use our time wisely within the term, adherence to the following completion schedule of activities is suggested:

COURSE PREREQUISITE: A bachelor's degree is the minimum requirement for admission to this course of study.

COURSE DELIVERY: This course shall be delivered completely through online interaction via the Internet or other acceptable distance learning medium(s). Due to this being a non-traditional program, traditional classroom residency is not required. Therefore, you are expected to independently read and analyze the subject matter with me performing the roles of an advisor and mentor.
