COURSE DESCRIPTION
PSY 454 examines theories and processes of cognitive functioning, including perception, attention, memory, problem-solving, decision-making, language, and aspects of learning. Contemporary issues and theoretical applications will also be studied.
COURSE EXPECTATIONS AND EVALUATION
The student is expected to read the text assigned, summarize text materials, and e-mail chapter summaries to the instructor.
PROJECT
Write a 10-15 page research paper examining human memory. Include research into the development of memory and these other aspects of memory:
What is it?
How does it work?
Why does it diminish in old age?
How does stress effect memory?
How does experience memory change over time?
COURSE PREREQUISITE: A bachelor's degree is the minimum requirement for admission to this course of study.
COURSE DELIVERY: This course shall be delivered completely through online interaction via the Internet or other acceptable distance learning medium(s). Due to this being a non-traditional program, traditional classroom residency is not required. Therefore, you are expected to independently read and analyze the subject matter with me performing the roles of an advisor and mentor.
