COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course provides valuable insights into the art of theatrical makeup. In very interesting ways, it conveys techniques and methods for Actors and makeup artists to build and improve their skills.

GOALS

This is a required course for the BA degree program in Theater Arts. The students learn about Stage makeup and its application, focusing, mainly, on makeup lists, types of materials, color charts, facial anatomy, and the manipulation of makeup to meet performance needs.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Upon course completion, students will be able to:

Design and apply makeup to transform the players’ characters into place, time and dramatic mood.

Present the styles of makeup that will express the mystery and fantasy of the Theater.

Choose appropriate and versatile materials to meet the actors’ makeup needs.

Develop color charts, based on the makeup lists and an understanding of facial anatomy, to meet the makeup needs of the Production

 

COURSE PREREQUISITE: A bachelor's degree is the minimum requirement for admission to this course of study. 

COURSE DELIVERY: This course shall be delivered completely through online interaction via the Internet or other acceptable distance learning medium(s). Due to this being a non-traditional program, traditional classroom residency is not required. Therefore, you are expected to independently read and analyze the subject matter with me performing the roles of an advisor and mentor.
