COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course gives students a wide view of Music Literature, surveying ‘Scores’ for various Stage and Film productions. It also explores chamber, orchestral and choral music of diverse cultures.

GOALS
This is a required course for the MA degree program in Theater Arts. The students explore the value of Music in Theater and Film productions, showing how it enhances Dramatic Action, scenery, mood, role-playing and story-telling.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  1. Upon course completion, students will be able to:

  2. Discuss various scores of Stage and Film productions.

  3. Show the use of Music to impact theater throughout the ages.

  4. Explore different types of Music to improve dramatic presentations.

  5. Show how music brings some reality to scenery and cultural behavior in Stage and Film Productions.

COURSE PREREQUISITE: A bachelor's degree is the minimum requirement for admission to this course of study. 

COURSE DELIVERY: This course shall be delivered completely through online interaction via the Internet or other acceptable distance learning medium(s). Due to this being a non-traditional program, traditional classroom residency is not required. Therefore, you are expected to independently read and analyze the subject matter with me performing the roles of an advisor and mentor.
