COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course provides in-depth analyses of aesthetic principles common to the Theater Arts within most cultures. It offers chronological surveys of styles, expressions and behavior in the media of Theater, showing relations to the development of human living, from antiquity to the present.

GOALS

This is a required course for the MA degree program in Theater Arts. The students investigate, explore and form conclusions regarding the effects of Theater Arts on Human development, throughout known History.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  1. Upon course completion, students will be able to:

  2. Compare ancient Theater (Greek, Egyptian, Roman) to modern Theater.

  3. Show how Theater influenced human behavior.

  4. Explore the dominant cultures that advanced the development of Theater Arts.

  5. Show how the Theater profoundly changed certain cultures regarding, politics, games, wars and religions.

 

COURSE PREREQUISITE: A bachelor's degree is the minimum requirement for admission to this course of study. 

COURSE DELIVERY: This course shall be delivered completely through online interaction via the Internet or other acceptable distance learning medium(s). Due to this being a non-traditional program, traditional classroom residency is not required. Therefore, you are expected to independently read and analyze the subject matter with me performing the roles of an advisor and mentor.
